Due to lack of time (one project submitted last Friday, another went feature-complete today and a third is to be release in 2-3 days) i just wanted to share two Gamasutra links:
Brief Guide to GDC 2010 in case you missed it. Contains links to and summaries of the most important … err, stuff that happened at this year’s GDC.
The State of Agile in the Game Industry by none other than Clinton Keith. Clinton is a well-known Scrum Trainer in the game industry and as far as i’m concerned, the only Scrum trainer i know of who has a background in game development and is teaching primarily to game developers.
Some MMO developer got fired. Not that interesting until you consider that the guy who fired him, Derek Smart, commented on this article to explain some of the reasons for doing it. I actually appreciate that he is so forthcoming. It doesn’t really end speculation but it’s certainly more refreshing and real to read than the usual “Our XXO has left to pursue other options and we wish him well.”. You know, corporate bullshit. And yes, i am absolutely sure that some people deserve not to get another job like the one they got fired from, to protect the industry as a whole. I’m not talking about the guy in the article but generally speaking, and specifically i could think of a select few who are of the “ungovernable” or “unable to learn” kind. Luckily a rare species but even one specimen can do great damage if in a position of power.
